Dr. Benji Kelley

Dr. Benji W. Kelley is the founding pastor of newhope church. Founded in 2002, newhope currently averages over 4,000 people on Sundays and ministers to over 6,000 throughout the Carolinas. newhope church continues to grow with 6 campuses in central North Carolina and will launch another campus in Columbia, SC in September 2013.  With an emphasis on leadership development, outreach, and a multi-site ministry where reverence meets relevance, newhope is a thriving community of faith spreading throughout the Carolinas and beyond.

 Pastor Benji is from Sumter, South Carolina and graduated from the University of South Carolina in 1994. He then studied at Duke University’s Divinity School where he received dual Masters Degrees in Divinity and The Theology and Practice of Christian Preaching. The Kelley family then traveled to Kentucky where Pastor Benji received his Doctoral Degree in Christian Leadership and Preaching in 2001 from the prestigious Beeson Pastor Program at Asbury Theological Seminary. Upon graduation, Pastor Benji returned to North Carolina and started newhope church with his wife and children.   Benji is the author of Preaching to Connect Truth to Life, published in 2012.

 Benji lives in Chapel Hill, North Carolina with his wife, Amy Lynn, and together they have five children.

family: My wife, Amy Lynn; Our children, Anna Grace, Benjamin Cole, Wesley Jacob, Caleb Timothy, and Joshua Hunter; A dog named Buddy and a cat named Dutchess.

hobbies: coaching sports, fishing, watching movies, and riding my Harley Davidson

factoid about me: I didn't know anything about Jesus until October 23, 1988. I was utterly lost, broken, and close to death when the Lord Jesus wrecked my life with His love and grace and gave me a purpose for which to live and die!
